SWIM SAFETY AND SWIM TESTS
Safety is our number one priority at Seven Hills. Parents should be on the premises with children under age 12 at all times, and only strong swimmers ages 12 or older can be left at the pool without direct adult supervision. Babysitters ages 16 or older may actively supervise in place of a parent or guardian. Swim tests are REQUIRED for children ages 5 - 12 to get in any part of the pool, including the diving well. Children ages 5 and younger and all non-swimmers must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Children ages 5 and younger and anyone between the ages of 5-12 that has not passed a swim test are only allowed in the main pool with an adult in the pool within arm’s reach, even when a flotation device is used. A wristband MUST BE WORN by anyone who has passed a test to communicate to lifeguards that they are a strong swimmer and can safely use the pool. Children 7 to 12 who passed the swim test last year do not need to be retested. The lifeguards have the right to require a repeat swim test for a child they do not feel are a strong swimmer.
Swim tests
Who needs to take a swim test?
Swimmers between ages 5 and 12 MUST complete a swim test prior to participating in any pool activity.
To pass a swim test, swimmers must be able to:
Swim from one end of the pool to the other (25 meters) without assistance or stopping
Tread water for 1 minute in the deep end of the pool
Jump off a diving board and swim to the side of the pool with no assistance
Jump into the pool and push off the bottom
Why should my child take a swim test?
Passing a swim test shows water proficiency and means that the youngest swimmers may be ready to use the diving boards and swim in the diving well.
Do I still have to watch my child if they have passed a swim test?
All parents should be extra vigilant in watching their children, even those that have passed a swim test.
How do I take a swim test?
Swim tests are administered during rest periods (the first 10 minutes of each hour). If you would like your child to take a swim test, please notify the manager on duty when you arrive at the club. Swim tests will be given in groups.
In a hurry? You may fill out and print the swim test registration form ahead of time by clicking here, and bringing it with you when you arrive at the club. Forms are also available at the clubhouse front desk.
